We had a conversation with Harry, the founder of Pounds Logistics, about the journey of his business, his vision for the future, and the unique advantages his company offers.

Introduction to Pounds Logistics

When we sat down with Harry, the conversation began with a quick overview of his business. "Pounds Logistics is a courier service that dispatches packages for both individuals and companies. Currently, we’re focused on deliveries by motorbike, but we’re planning to expand into more comprehensive logistics services, including hauling containers across regions and even moving into air freight in the future."

The ambition to expand into new areas of logistics is clear. Harry shared that his inspiration comes from industry giants like DHL and FedEx, and he hopes to one day leave a similar mark in the logistics world. "It’s a long-term goal," he said, "but I believe we’ll get there."

Mission and Vision

Pounds Logistics was born out of Harry’s own experience as a vendor in Ghana. "I sell fitness equipment, and the frustration of finding reliable delivery services was overwhelming. Customers expect quick, smooth deliveries, and many services just couldn’t deliver on that promise. I saw the demand and decided to create something better."

The mission of Pounds Logistics is simple: to make delivery services smooth and efficient, bringing smiles to the faces of people expecting their packages. "I’ve been in the shoes of customers waiting for deliveries, so I understand the importance of reliability and speed," Harry explained.

As for the vision, Harry wants to become a leader in all aspects of logistics. "I want to take Pounds Logistics beyond motorbike deliveries into a broader range of services, so that anything logistics-related can be handled by us."

The Vendor Advantage

One of the unique aspects of Pounds Logistics is Harry’s dual experience as both a merchant and a logistics provider. This has given him a distinct advantage over competitors. "Being a vendor helps because I can anticipate my customers' needs. The riders I work with are my own employees, so I can ensure that deliveries happen quickly and at a fair price. It’s an edge that allows me to serve my customers better," Harry said.

Growth and Evolution

Pounds Logistics has been operational since 2021, and the company has evolved significantly over time. Starting with just one rider, Harry now manages a team of three, having expanded at the height of the business to five riders.

"One of the biggest changes is the way we manage operations. Initially, with just one rider, things were straightforward. But as we grew, I brought in an assistant to help manage timelines and ensure we meet customer expectations. The integration with Swoove’s system has also been a huge help in tracking deliveries, managing riders, and keeping things running smoothly."

Exciting Plans for the Future

Though still in its early stages, Harry has big plans for the future of Pounds Logistics. One initiative he is particularly excited about is the introduction of a subscription package for businesses. "We’re piloting a program where customers who regularly use our service can sign up for a monthly package. For instance, if a customer typically does 100 deliveries a month, they can subscribe to a package at a fixed rate, saving them money in the long run."

The early feedback has been promising, with several customers already signed up for the service. "It’s been working really well so far, and I believe it’s going to be a game-changer for us," Harry shared.

The Role of Swoove in Pounds Logistics' Journey

Harry’s journey with Swoove began when he first became an agent for the platform, using Swoove’s resources to manage deliveries before branching out on his own. Reflecting on his experience, he shared how valuable the relationship has been. "Swoove has been instrumental in helping us streamline operations. The system they’ve built, especially the ability to track riders and manage deliveries, has made a huge difference."

With Swoove, Pounds Logistics has been able to grow and take on more customers while maintaining the same level of service that first set them apart.
